A student’s throat was cut on his way home from the mosque after Taraweeh prayers.

In Kahalu Upazila of Bogra, miscreants killed a Dakhil examinee by hacking and slitting his throat. The murder took place on the way home from the mosque after Taraweeh prayers in Patanja village of the upazila on Friday around 9:30 pm.

The deceased Redwan Islam (16) is the son of Mirazul Islam of Patanja village in Durgapur union of the upazila. He appeared in Dakhil examination from Durgapur Enayetullah Dakhil Madrasa of Kahalu Upazila this year.

According to Kahalu police station-police sources, Redwan was returning home after Taraweeh prayers at Patanj Jame Masjid yesterday. This time the miscreants killed him by slitting his throat and left the body in the paddy field. Around 10 o’clock in the night, local people saw Redwan’s bloody body in the field and informed the police.

Kahalu Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Salim Reza told Prothom Alo that the body of the deceased teenager was recovered and sent to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital for autopsy. The reason for the murder was revealed at the earliest. In this regard, the district police will hold a press conference on Saturday to give details. The OC said that the murder case is being prepared in the police station.
