Bumper yield of garlic in Padma pasture

A bumper crop of garlic has been produced in padma pastures at Bagha in Rajshahi. These garlics are being sold at Tk 100 per kg. On Friday afternoon, Kalidaskhali fodder was picked up from the ground and weighed on the ground. Traders take this garlic in the market and sell it at Tk 150 per kg.

Milan Sheikh of Kalidaskhali Char has cultivated garlic on 10 katha land. In three months, he spent about one lakh rupees including seeds, fertilizers, irrigation. He will sell it for one and a half lakh after excluding all expenses.

Local businessman Arifur Rahman labored in the land to lift the garlic and weigh it. 100 per kg. 4 thousand rupees per maund. He said, I will sell it at Bagha and Arani haat at the price of 150 taka including the travel expenses.

Gholam Mostafa of Kalidaskhali char said, compared to other years, a large amount of garlic has been planted this year. I myself have grown garlic in my backyard. The yield will be good.

Rezaul Islam of Palashiftepur Char said, I myself have cultivated garlic on three bigha land in Padma Char. About 6 lakh rupees have been spent including fertilizer, seeds. I expect to sell the land for about 10 lakh taka excluding expenses.

Bablu Dewa, Chairman of Chakrajapur Union, said that various vegetables including garlic are grown in Padma pasture. These are taken from the land by traders. Farmers no longer need to be taken to the market. Sold from here.

In this regard, Upazila Agriculture Officer Shafiullah Sultan said, garlic has been cultivated in 934 hectares of land in the upazila. Of this, half of garlic has been planted in Padma pasture. This garlic is shipped to different districts of the country by meeting the local demand.
