Eid is the main religious festival of Muslims. Although there are several other religious festivals, two Eids in a year bring something special, special joy. All the Muslim nations of the world look forward to Eid festival throughout the year. Preparation goes on throughout the year. Among them, Bengali Eid is a little exception. This festival is not limited to Muslims only, the entire Bengali nation irrespective of caste and religion joins in this festival. It is this feature that makes the Bengali Eid glorious.

History says that during the Nawabi era, Eid was announced by beating drums in Dhaka.

As in the past, grandiose Eid arrangements are no longer visible. Many people say that in this era Dhaka’s Eid full . All those arrangements that caught the eye and mind are no longer seen. Human-to-human contact has decreased due to the ax attack of urbanization. Eid has become limited to individuals and families.

However, the residents of old Dhaka have retained some of the traditions of organizing Eid. In Dhaka, Eid festivities continue for 5 days.

It can be said that Eid-ul-Fitr 2024 has fully fulfilled the needs of children. There were different Eid events in every area. The arrangement at the traditional Bangshal of Dhaka city was the best of the best. Already in terms of various traditions, the heritage of old Dhaka is much ahead. On top of that, this year’s Eid arrangements have not been reduced in any way.

Another event that was incomparable was the ‘Mela’. Traditionally everyone likes fairs. Bangshal Mela has been named as ‘Eid Anand  Mela’.

It is usually crowded with vehicles and people. The road is empty as people leave the village. Due to the epidemic, children could not have such entertainment. So we organize the fair to give happiness to the people of Dhaka.

Locals say that this fair has acted as a bridge between the busy city life and our rural environment. We want this fair to happen every year and our children can enjoy the entertainment twice as much. According to them, Bangshal has organized the best Eid celebration not only in Old Dhaka but also in the entire Dhaka city. Anand Mela is going on for 5 days from Eid day to Saturday at Nayabazar, French Road, Banshal, Old Dhaka. Thousands of people including locals are enjoying this joyous fair every day.
