President Md. Sahabuddin said, Pahela Boishakh is the main part of the eternal tradition of the Bengali nation. He said these things in a message given on the occasion of Bengali New Year.

In the message he said, ‘Happy New Year-1431’ Pahela Baishakh is a day of great joy in the life of the Bengali nation. On this auspicious day, I wish all Bangladeshis living in the country and abroad Happy Bengali New Year.

The President said, the arrival of Baisakh, the new song of victory is played. Everyone wakes up with new joy, new enthusiasm, forgetting sorrow, rust, failure and impurity. The calendar which started as a harvest year during the Mughal era, with the passage of time has become a commemorative festival of the non-communal spirit of the entire Bengali. Bengalis find their own tradition, culture and consciousness in the midst of Pahela Boishakh.

He said that Boishakh is not limited to festivals. It is related to our self-development and motivation to grow. Pahela Boishakh is an indestructible force in the development of Bengali culture, self-control and liberation. This power of culture in the development and democratic development of Bangladesh strengthens and accelerates the spirit of political system.

Md. Sahabuddin said, regardless of religion, caste and caste, all the festival-loving Bengali people welcome Baishakh with dance-songs, processions, joy-festivals, various kinds of food and colorful costumes. In the new year, various colorful events like processions, puppet dances, folk music, rural sports, fairs spread new messages of joy and harmony among the people.

He said that in 2016, the Mars procession of Pahela Boishakh was recognized as a world cultural heritage by UNESCO. This international recognition of national culture is an absolute honor and dignity for Bengalis as a nation. One of the foundations of the national philosophy and ideals of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was the development of native culture and the emergence of national consciousness. Inspired by that spirit, Bangabandhu celebrated the New Year with his fellow prisoners during his imprisonment.

The President said that Pahela Boishakh teaches us to be generous and inspires us with nationalism to mingle with the people of the world. It is everyone’s pledge to build a hunger and poverty-free, happy-rich and smart Bangladesh by holding the spirit of Bangabandhu’s philosophy, founding ideals and national language in the heart of this liberal spirit.

He said, let truth and beauty triumph over all evil and ugliness. May all the sorrows and sorrows of the past year be removed, may the new year bring unending happiness and prosperity in national and personal life.
