Free Sehri Brings Relief to Patients and Night Workers in Pabna

Sahela Begum, 55, from Chatmohar in Pabna, has been staying at Pabna General Hospital with her granddaughter for the past two days. During the holy month of Ramadan, she was worried about arranging sehri. However, before the designated time, a meal was delivered to her, easing her concerns.

Not only Sahela Begum, but all admitted patients, their attendants, and doctors and nurses at Pabna General Hospital are receiving free sehri every night. Around 600 people are being served daily under an initiative by Square Group. The program is being jointly carried out by Square Food & Beverage, Square Pharmaceuticals, and Square Toiletries at the initiative of Director Anjan Chowdhury. The effort will continue throughout Ramadan.

In addition, a voluntary organization named Tahura-Aziz Foundation is distributing free sehri to 300–350 people each night in the district town. Their meals reach night laborers, rickshaw pullers, security guards, and homeless individuals across the city.

Around 1:00 AM on Thursday, a small truck loaded with neatly packed food boxes and bottled water arrived at the main gate of Pabna General Hospital. Shortly after, a team of Square Group employees began unloading and distributing the meals using trolleys. Food was handed directly to patients and their family members. Receiving meals just before sehri brought visible relief and smiles to many faces.

According to the organizers, the food packages are prepared hygienically and distributed by staff members themselves. The menu varies by day and includes items such as mutton, chicken, fish, eggs, vegetables, and a bottle of water.

Nargis Akter, one of the recipients, said it had been difficult to manage sehri while worrying about her hospitalized relative. Receiving the meal was a great help, and she expressed hope that the initiative would continue benefiting more people.

Meanwhile, volunteers from Tahura-Aziz Foundation were seen distributing sehri among underprivileged people in areas like the central bus terminal during the early hours of Friday. Young volunteers moved around in auto-rickshaws calling out for anyone in need of sehri. Laborers, rickshaw pullers, and homeless individuals came forward to collect the meals, returning to their work with grateful smiles.
