After returning from Gujarat Titans to Mumbai Indians, Hardik Pandya’s distance with the fans seems to be increasing. The Mumbai Indians captain has heard the duo on the field several times in this year’s IPL. This time, Pandya also spoke about his approach to the audience-supporters. He said, he does not care about the expectations of the supporters.

Pandya, who replaced Rohit Sharma as the captain in Mumbai, will play his 100th match in the IPL today. Mumbai’s opponents in Jaipur are Rajasthan Royals.

Pandya spoke about captaincy in Star Sports’ ‘Captain’s Speak’ episode. Referring to the challenge, the 30-year-old all-rounder said, “Challenge is fun.” But if you ask, which is challenging, I would say the expectations of the franchise, the expectations of the fans. Frankly, I’d rather have a less stressful or busy life than something I don’t care about. Because then I feel like I’m doing something useful.’

Mumbai have lost four of the seven matches played so far in this year’s IPL. Every win is important to keep the playoff chances alive. However, Mumbai’s record in Jaipur is not very favourable. The five-time champions managed to win only two of the seven matches played at the Rajasthan ground. Pandya, however, does not want to think too much about the past, “We never give up.” It is a very important part of Mumbai Indians. I find it exciting to try to outdo myself, the challenge makes me go further.’
