57 Bangladesh Bank officials quit their jobs together

57 officials of Bangladesh Bank have left their jobs. They left the Central Bank to join other jobs including the Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS).

 

This information was informed in an office order of the central bank on Tuesday.

A deputy director and an officer are among those who resigned. The remaining 55 are assistant directors. The resignation of 48 of them will take effect today.

Besides, resignation of one person each on March 31, April 15 and April 16, two persons on April 18 and four persons on April 21 have been effective.

Most of these officers who left their jobs were working in various departments of the central bank’s head office.

Besides, 3 people were working in Khulna and Barisal office, 2 people in Sylhet office, 1 person each in Motijheel, Chittagong and Rangpur offices.

Once upon a time, many people used to leave jobs like teaching in BCS, public universities and come to the central bank. But now it is the opposite.

According to experts, some believe that the trend of leaving central bank jobs is increasing due to frustration with the lack of central bank autonomy, reduced job opportunities.
