The Biden administration has accused Israel of violating international humanitarian law by attacking Gaza with US-supplied weapons.

Such charges were brought against Israel on Friday (May 10). This information came to the fore after a report was submitted to the Congress.

A White House-directed review has looked at how Israel has used US-supplied weapons since last year. However, the report criticized the Israeli army’s operations. However, it was not made clear whether the Israel Defense Forces violated international law in the attack on Gaza.

It also said that the Israeli army faced a tough military challenge against Hamas in the attack on Gaza.

According to the report, more weapons may be sent to Israel as the US has assured them of its use of weapons. The way Hamas has used attacks on civilian infrastructure and human shields to achieve military objectives has made it difficult to launch targeted strikes on the ground in a legitimate manner.

The State Department said it is “reasonable to assess” that while Israel has some obligation to use US-supplied weapons, they have been used in an “inconsistent” way.

But the State Department says the US government doesn’t have “full data” on its assessment.

According to the BBC, the report was tabled in the US Congress on Friday after a delay. The review, directed by the White House, looked at how the country has used US-supplied weapons since the conflict began last year.

On October 7 last year, the Palestinian armed group Hamas launched a terrible attack on Israel. During that time they killed 1200 people and took 253 hostages.

In response to this attack, Israel launched a counterattack in Gaza. But the country took no regular notice of the attack. As a result more than 34 thousand innocent people lost their lives.
