The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) conducted an operation in Dhaka’s Dhanmondi area but could not find any office of the Center for Research and Information (CRI), the research wing of the Awami League. However, the ACC discovered an FDR worth 35.21 crore BDT in the name of CRI. The operation, led by ACC Assistant Director Raju Ahmed, took place at two addresses, Dhanmondi-32 and 6/A Road, but no CRI office was located at either. According to a statement from ACC Director General Akhtar Hossain, investigations revealed the existence of the FDR at IFIC Bank, along with transaction records from Sonali Bank. The ACC found evidence suggesting that CRI’s board had misused state funds for political purposes. The board includes Chairman Sajeeb Ahmed Wazed (Joy) and Vice-Chairperson Saima Wazed Putul. Additionally, the investigation involved collecting banking records from institutions like Dutch-Bangla Bank, IFIC Bank, and Sonali Bank. CRI’s trustees include Radwan Mujib Siddiq and former Energy State Minister Nasrul Hamid, although the CRI office was found to be closed during the raid.
