4 people including a mother and son died in a separate incident of lightning in Narsingdi. The incident took place at around 10 am on Saturday (April 18) in Alokbali Uttarpara and Hajipur suburbs of Sadar Upazila.

The deceased are Sharifa Begum (50), wife of Kamal Mia of Alokbali Uttarpara, her son Iqbal Hossain (12) and Qayyum Mia (22), son of Karam Ali and Moslehuddin (50) of Chakpara of Hajipur Union of Sadar Upazila.

Narsingdi Sadar Model Police Station OC Tanveer Ahmed said that all the victims were staying in the agricultural land for harvesting paddy. At that time, Sharifa Begum and her son Iqbal died on the spot when there was a loud thunderbolt. Another person named Qayyum died on the way to the hospital with serious injuries. Another injured person named Kamal Hossain is being treated. Besides, one more person died due to lightning in Hajipur.
