Severe heat wave in north India, heavy rain forecast in south

Delhiites are panting in the intense heat. On Monday (May 20), the maximum temperature reached 47.4 degrees Celsius, the highest in the country.

The Indian Meteorological Department has said that the heatwave will continue in Delhi for the next 5 days. It has also been reported that the maximum temperature in Delhi and adjoining areas will remain above 47 degrees till Thursday.

It has been said that not only Delhi, but also a large part of North India, the heat wave may continue till Thursday. Red alert has already been issued in Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana.

and large parts of Gujarat.

However, heavy rains are expected in parts of the southern state of Kerala. Heavy rains are also likely in parts of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry on Tuesday.

All schools have been directed to extend summer vacation till June 30 to spare children from the scorching heat of Delhi. Loadshedding may increase the demand of electricity in such hot weather.

Doctors are mainly advising the elderly and children to be careful in heat wave situations. They insist on staying at home as much as possible in the afternoon, drinking more ORS like drinks, not eating cut fruits or food with extra oily spices.
