The heat has increased again in Nilphamari. A mild to moderate heat wave is blowing over the district since last Thursday. The people’s life has become unbearable due to continuous hot sun and unbearable heat for three days. Because of the heat of the sun from morning to noon, no one leaves the house unless absolutely necessary. At this time, the streets of towns and villages are empty.

Syedpur Airport Meteorological Office sources said that the maximum temperature of the day in the district was 38.4 degrees Celsius on Thursday. Yesterday, Friday, the maximum temperature was recorded at 38.5 degrees Celsius. Today, Saturday, 38 degree Celsius was recorded at 12 noon and 39 degree Celsius at 3 pm. At that time the air humidity was 32 percent.

According to the Meteorological Department, if the temperature is between 36 degrees Celsius and 37.9 degrees Celsius, it is called a mild heat wave. Temperatures between 38 degrees Celsius and 39.9 degrees Celsius are called moderate heatwaves. A severe heat wave is when the temperature is between 40°C and 41.9°C. And it is very severe if it is 42 degrees or more. Accordingly, moderate heat waves are flowing over Nilphamari today.

Low-income people including agricultural workers, rickshaw pullers are the most affected by such adverse weather conditions. Talked with the rickshaw driver Mokfar Ali (55) on the big mosque road of the city at noon today. Mokfar Ali’s house is in Tenganmari village of Jaldhaka upazila. He said, ‘At eight in the morning, there is no mainshi in the city, and it is difficult to drive a rickshaw in the hot weather. On other days, at this time, I earned 400 taka, but I could not earn even 200 taka. Garmat is not able to survive.

Rickshaw driver Milan Rahman (35) of Singdai village in Itakhola union of the district headquarters said, “Roud’s jewelry does not go out. I am taking a rickshaw for an hour. There is no need to decorate the city with roads. Elao could not earn 100 taka. We have suffered a lot this summer.

Lina Dey, a teacher at Ramganj Technical School, said that the attendance of students in the school has decreased due to the extreme heat. Lecturer of Ramganj Technical and Business Management College. Abdul Hannan also said that the attendance of students in their college has decreased in the heat of few days.

Saidpur Airport Meteorological Office Officer-in-Charge Md. Lokman Hakim said, heat wave is going on in the district for three days. There is a chance of rain tomorrow Sunday around 12 pm. If it rains, the temperature will drop.
