Cyclone Rimal Launch movement stopped

In view of Cyclone Rimal approaching the coast of Bangladesh, launch operations have been stopped across the country.

On Saturday (May 25) night Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) director (naval safety and traffic management) Md. Zainal Abedin gave this information.

He said that due to the turbulence of the waterway due to the effect of Cyclone ‘Remal’, for the safety of the passengers, all the launches of the inland waterways have been closed at 10 o’clock tonight until further orders.
He also said that earlier the movement of the launch was stopped in the coastal area.
In the evening, the Meteorological Department said that the deep depression created over the Bay of Bengal has turned into Cyclone Rimal. It is approaching the coast of Bangladesh. In this situation Mongla and Payra seaports have been asked to show distress signal number 7.
