Cyclone Remal’s rampage in Khulna

Cyclone Remal hits Khulna coast. Since 10:30 pm on Sunday (May 26), the rampage continues on the coast of Khulna. A gusty wind is blowing along with the stormy rain.

Meteorologist in charge of Khulna Meteorological Office. Amirul Azad told the media that Cyclone Remal started hitting the coast including Khulna at 10:30 pm. The rampage is still going on. 100 km/h wind speed at Koira coast. And in other parts of Khulna, the wind is blowing at a speed of 65 km per hour. It’s raining. It will continue like this for another 2-3 hours.

He said, during high tide, there is a risk of high tide of 8 to 10 feet. It may flood low-lying areas.

Meanwhile, panicked by the cyclone, the common people of the river banks and different villages are taking shelter in the cyclone shelters.

Sub Assistant Engineer Anup Kumar Pal, who is in charge of the establishment of Jalma CSS in Batiaghata, said that 200 people can take shelter here. Hundreds of people have taken shelter in Jalma area. As the night deepens, more people come. Dry food and water are provided for the arrivals. Deputies are also investigating.

Khandkar Yasir Arefin, Deputy Commissioner of Khulna, said that 604 cyclone shelters have been prepared in Khulna to deal with cyclones. Already more than 1 lakh people have come to the shelter. Dry food is provided for them.
