Due to Cyclone Remal, it has started raining in different parts of the capital since last Sunday night. The intensity of the rain increased from Monday morning. As of now (3pm) the rain has continued. There is a gust of wind. Various areas of the capital have been flooded due to heavy rains. As a result, the residents of the capital have to suffer due to waterlogging and shortage of vehicles due to the rain.

According to the Meteorological Department, 71 millimeters of rain fell in the capital from 6 am to 12 pm on Monday. Rain may continue throughout the day today.

Strong Cyclone Remal, however, has weakened. This information was informed in the special notification number 19 of the Meteorological Department at around 11 o’clock today. Distress signal number 10 issued at Payra and Mongla seaports has been lifted due to the cyclone. Again, the number 9 disaster signal given in Chittagong and Cox’s Bazar has also been withdrawn. Meteorological department asked to show local warning signal number 3 at all four ports.

Remal is weak but there is no shortage of rain. It is raining not only in the capital, but in different parts of the country.

Meteorologist of the Department of Meteorology. Bajlur Rashid said that 71 mm of rain was recorded in the capital from 6 am to 12 pm. However, during the same period, the highest rainfall in the country was recorded in Chittagong, 169 mm.

Due to the rain, the movement of metro rail has been disrupted since morning. Traffic remained closed till 10 am. After that, the movement is not smooth. The problem of this new and popular aspect of commuting in city life has caused a lot of traffic jams on the roads. Water has accumulated in some areas of the city.

Meanwhile, people going to work and eating have suffered the most from the rain that started in the morning.

Many people left home for work in the morning and did not get the bus on the road. CNG-powered autorickshaws and rickshaw drivers charged extra, even doubled-tripled fares due to rain. Autorickshaw drivers refused to go due to fear of waterlogging in some areas. Many people got drenched in rain and gusty winds while waiting for public transport. In addition, waterlogging has occurred due to accumulation of ongoing rainwater in many areas of the two Dhaka cities.

All in all, the people of Dhaka are in extreme suffering. Those concerned say that if the rain does not stop, the flooding will not be completely cut. It is not expected that this suffering will end immediately.
