Removal of accumulated water in 94 places of Dhaka North City

The water accumulated in 94 places of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) has been removed due to the rain throughout the day due to the impact of Cyclone Rimal. At the same time, 108 big and medium trees with uprooted and broken branches have been removed from various roads in 10 areas of North City and traffic has been kept normal.

This information was informed in the press release sent by Maqbool Hossain, public relations officer of DNCC on Monday evening. It is said that 5 thousand 300 cleaning workers and 10 quick response teams have worked in different areas of North City to resolve waterlogging. Each team has 10 members totaling 100 members.

The entire operation of waterlogging has been monitored from the central control room of Nagar Bhaban in Dhaka North City. A phone call to DNCC’s hotline number 16106 has cleared 94 locations of standing water.

Atiqul Islam, mayor of Dhaka North City, said that about 125 millimeters of rain fell in Dhaka from Monday morning to 5 pm. Even with such heavy rain, the main roads of the DNCC area did not get waterlogged anywhere for a long time. Officials and workers of Dhaka North City are working continuously to resolve waterlogging. Through the hotline number, from the areas where there are reports of flooding or falling trees, action is being taken by sending people quickly.
