The Meteorological Department has issued a warning about potential storms and thunderstorms in four regions of the country, with wind speeds reaching up to 60 kilometers per hour.
According to a notice signed by meteorologist Dr. Muhammad Abul Kalam Mallik, areas including Jashore, Khulna, Kushtia, and Madaripur may experience temporary gusty or squally winds from the west or northwest at speeds of 45 to 60 kilometers per hour, accompanied by rain or thunderstorms. As a precaution, river ports in these regions have been advised to display cautionary signal number 1.
Meanwhile, after several days of intense heat, light rain brought some relief to the capital on Monday afternoon. The sky became overcast around midday, and by 2 PM, drizzles began in different parts of the city. While many welcomed the rain after the extreme heat, it also caused some inconvenience for commuters caught off guard.
The Meteorological Department further stated that temperatures across the country may drop slightly from Tuesday. Additionally, scattered rainfall is expected throughout the rest of the week. Some areas in the Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram, and Sylhet divisions may experience gusty or squally winds, thunderstorms, and occasional lightning, with the possibility of isolated hailstorms.
