Discussions have begun in Bangladesh about celebrating Eid on the same day as the rest of the world. However, Islamic scholars emphasize that both the Quran and Hadith provide clear guidance on determining Eid and fasting based on moon sightings.
Every year, debates arise over moon sighting and Eid celebrations in Bangladesh. In many regions, Eid is observed in alignment with Saudi Arabia.
According to the Meteorological Department, on March 30 (29th Ramadan), the age of the Shawwal crescent at sunset will be 1.05 days, and by the following day, March 31, it will be 2.05 days old. The visibility duration of the moon is expected to be 43 minutes on the evening of March 30 and 51 minutes the next day.
If the sky remains clear, the crescent moon for Shawwal is expected to be visible to the naked eye on the evening of March 30. While discussions about celebrating Eid simultaneously with Saudi Arabia and other countries have emerged, Islamic scholars emphasize adhering to the Quran and Hadith regarding moon sightings.
In recent years, the Islamic Foundation has indicated that the government may soon make an official decision on aligning Eid celebrations with Saudi Arabia.
The Meteorological Department has set the moon sighting timeframe between 6:32 PM and 7:20 PM on March 30.
