11 people including children died in rain-hit Delhi, alert issued

11 people died in India’s rain-ravaged capital Delhi from last Thursday to Saturday. Six of them died by drowning in frozen water. According to the administration sources, there are some children among the dead. Indian media Anandabazar Patrika reported this information in a report on Sunday.

The report also said that the rain will increase in the coming days. Along with warning, the Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rain for four days. Many areas of the capital are still under water.

Besides heavy rain on Sunday and Monday, wind speed of 30-40 km is also predicted.

According to meteorologists, it rains up to 650 mm in Delhi during the monsoon season. But on Friday alone, one-third of the season’s rain fell. The entire capital has been flooded due to 228 mm of rain in one day. According to NDTV report, this is the highest rainfall in a day in June since 1936.

Not only Delhi, but also the states of North and Central India, the amount of rain will increase in the coming days, according to the Meteorological Department. Heavy rains are forecast in Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan till July 3. Not only this, heavy rains may occur in some parts of Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, East Rajasthan, West Madhya Pradesh during this period.

Meanwhile, Ganga has reached the danger level due to heavy rains in Uttarakhand’s Haridwar. Many roads and houses were inundated as the Sukhi River overflowed.
