President Md. Sahabuddin said, Dhaka University is an integral part of Bangladesh’s development history-tradition, prosperity and success.

In a message given on Monday (July 1) on the occasion of the 104th founding anniversary (Dhaka University Day) of Dhaka University (DU), the country’s traditional highest educational institution, he said, “I extend my sincere greetings and warm congratulations to all the teachers, students, officials, staff, parents, alumni of the university.”

The President said that Dhaka University, which is engaged in the pursuit of becoming world-class through the intensive combination of human knowledge and recent science and technology, has been playing a unique role in the spread of higher education, knowledge acquisition and creation in the subcontinent since its inception. A political, social and cultural awakening took place in this region centered on Dhaka University and in this sequence independent and sovereign Bangladesh emerged.

He said that the students and teachers of this university have led all the democratic movements and struggles and socio-economic development of the country, starting from the language movement and the liberation war. Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman dreamed of the liberation of countless people of the country from the premises of this university.

The President said, I respectfully remember Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the father of the nation, the creator of independent Bangladesh. I express my deep respect to all the intellectuals including teachers and students, officers and employees of Dhaka University who sacrificed their lives in the great liberation war.

Pointing out that the government has announced ‘Vision 2041’ to make Bangabandhu’s dream ‘Golden Bangla’ a reality and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s announcement of ‘Rupkalp-2041’, he said that to realize the dream of the father of the nation and enjoy the benefits of the fourth industrial revolution, technology and human Dhaka University has to play an important role to move forward in the unique synthesis of liberation. I think it is possible to make Bangladesh a developed country only through quality education, strong patriotism and becoming humane people with open mind.

President Md. Sahabuddin said that one of the goals of Dhaka University should be to develop the Bengali ethnicity and to develop the future leadership of the country by taking into consideration the cultural expression of all ethnic groups. This country’s highest university should play a more effective role in conducting world-class education and research programs. With the goal of creating skilled human resources with open mind, I think that this year’s theme of Dhaka University’s foundation day, ‘Higher education to increase the skills of the young generation’ has been accurate and timely.’

He said, I hope that the progress of Dhaka University will be more rapid and that the goals and objectives of this university will be properly implemented. Through the creation of new knowledge and enlightened people, Dhaka University is the beacon of leading Bangladesh.

The President wished the overall success of all the programs organized on the occasion of ‘Dhaka University Day’.
