Dhaka’s roads were flooded after several hours of rain

The roads in most areas of the capital Dhaka have been submerged in continuous rain for several hours. As it was a weekend, most people did not leave their homes. But those who came out, including job candidates and day laborers, had to wade through knee-deep water to reach their destination.

Due to the torrential rain that started on Friday (July 12) morning, the roads of Green Road, Mirpur, Dhanmondi, Banani, Mohammadpur, Malibagh-Mogbazar, Bashundhara residential area, Banglamotor, Badda, Azimpur areas of the capital have accumulated water.

In this, almost all the roads including Dhanmondi 27, Green Road, Mirpur and Moghbazar main roads have accumulated knee-deep water, sometimes waist-deep water. On the one hand, the pedestrians have suffered. On the other hand, private cars and CNG engines were found stuck in the middle of the road with water entering them. Besides, traffic congestion has been caused due to the slow speed of vehicles on the road due to waterlogging.

The residents of the capital had to spend the morning fighting with water. And on this occasion, rickshaws and vans have been started to cross the road. People are forced to cross these vehicles by paying high rent.

Meanwhile, water has entered many shops and markets due to continuous rain. Several shops on the ground floor of Newmarket were reported to be flooded

But above all, the sufferings of the candidates who participated in the 18th teacher registration written examination have reached their peak. Due to the lack of vehicles in the morning rain, we had to face the problem. Now after the test, you have to get out in the flood.

According to the Meteorological Department, 60 mm of rain was recorded in Dhaka from 6 am to 9 am. More rain is likely across the country today. Rain may reduce again tomorrow from Saturday.

Cox’s Bazar received the highest amount of rain in the country on Thursday. 309 mm of rainfall was recorded in the beach town. Cox’s Bazar due to heavy rain caused landslides. Four people including women and children have died.

Apart from this, the Meteorological Department has recorded 219 mm rainfall in Chittagong’s Sandwip. At the same time, warnings of landslides have been issued in Chittagong and Chittagong Hill Tracts. Apart from this, North Bengal including Sylhet has expressed the fear of new floods.
