China has welcomed the formation of a new interim government in Bangladesh. At the same time, the country promised to work to increase communication and cooperation between the two countries.

A spokesman said this in response to questions at the regular briefing of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China on Friday.

In the briefing, a journalist asked, on August 8, the interim government in Bangladesh took oath. The chief advisor of this government is the Nobel laureate Dr. Muhammad Yunus. What is China’s comment on this government?

In response, the spokesperson of the Chinese Foreign Ministry said, “China is aware of the formation of the interim government in Bangladesh and they have welcomed this government.” China is fundamentally opposed to interference in the internal affairs of any country. We have respect for the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Bangladesh and the path of development that the people of Bangladesh have freely chosen. We are steadfast in our policy of friendship with our good neighbors and the people of Bangladesh.

The spokesperson also said that the friendship between China and Bangladesh is long-standing and this relationship is very deep. China values ​​this relationship with Bangladesh. China is ready to work with Bangladesh to develop bilateral communication and cooperation in various fields and to further advance integrated strategic cooperative partnership.
