Akbars lost against Tasmania Tigers

BCB Hyperperformance Team (HP) opened the Top End T20 tournament by defeating Big Bash team Melbourne Renegades. But today the HP team lost by 5 wickets against Tasmania Tigers in the second match of the tournament.

Batting first, Akbar Ali’s team scored 166 runs for 5 wickets. In reply, Tasmania won by 5 wickets with 3 balls to spare. Jack Doran turned the match around with an unbeaten innings of 71 off 37 balls.

HP team started well in batting. Jisan Alam and Tanjid Hasan scored 73 runs off 51 balls in the opening pair. But only Jisan played in T20 mood. His 38 runs came from 23 balls, 2 fours and 3 sixes. Tanjid scored 28 off 29 balls before being run out. Parvez Hossain was unbeaten on 39 runs off 29 balls. 20 runs from 17 balls came from captain Akbar’s bat. That’s 166 runs for the HP team.

Tasmania stumbled in front of the HP side’s spin at the start of the run chase but bounced back courtesy of Charlie Wakim and Jack Doran. Doran did the big damage. He scored 71 runs off 37 balls in explosive batting. The unbeaten innings had 4 fours and 3 sixes. At the end, Raphael McMillan was unbeaten on 17 off 9 balls. HP team’s left-arm spinner Rakibul took 2 wickets with 25 runs in 3.3 overs.
