BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia’s 80th birthday today. Like the last few years, the party will celebrate Khaleda Zia’s birthday with a doa mahfil. On this occasion, prayers and milad have been organized tomorrow on Friday.

On the occasion of Khaleda Zia’s birthday, a Milad and Doa Mahfil will be held tomorrow to pray for the long life and health of Khaleda Zia and for the forgiveness of the souls of the martyrs and the recovery of the injured in the recent student movement. He is currently admitted to Evercare Hospital in the capital due to various physical complications.

On May 30, 1981, the then President Ziaur Rahman was brutally killed by wayward soldiers at Chittagong Circuit House. After that, Khaleda Zia joined the politics of BNP created by Ziaur Rahman. Khaleda Zia became the country’s first woman prime minister in 1991 after the fall of Hussain Muhammad Ershad’s government through a long movement. He has been the Prime Minister for three terms so far.

A BNP-led four-party coalition formed the government after winning the October 1, 2001 elections. Khaleda Zia was imprisoned on September 3, 2007 after the One-Eleven. He was imprisoned till September 2008. He spent his birthday for the first time while in prison. Khaleda Zia was sentenced in the Zia Orphanage Trust case on February 8, 2018 before the 11th Parliament elections.

The government released Khaleda Zia conditionally on March 25, 2020 after suspending the sentence for six months due to the situation caused by the Corona epidemic. The government decided to suspend the sentence on the condition that he will receive treatment at home and will not be able to go abroad. He was treated at Evercare Hospital in the capital for several complications including liver cirrhosis and heart problems.

After the fall of the Awami League government, Khaleda Zia’s sentence was commuted and she was released. However, he is under treatment in the hospital as he is ill.
