Former water resources minister and former member of parliament from Thakurgaon-1 constituency Ramesh Chandra Sen has been detained by a group of plainclothes policemen.

Family members said that he was taken away from home on Friday (August) at 10:30 pm.

Anjali Sen, wife of Ramesh Chandra Sen, complained that a team of 10-15 policemen in plain clothes came and took him away. They can be members of Detective Police (DB). They did not say anything about where Ramesh was being taken.

Anjali Sen also said that everyone had weapons. They told Ramesh to get up and move. They hold hands and forcefully drag them away. I repeatedly asked where to take them, but they did not say anything

Local Awami League leaders said that some members of DB came and took Ramesh Sen to Thakurgaon. Officer-in-Charge of Ruhia Police Station was also with the DB team.

However, Anwarul Islam, officer-in-charge of detective branch of Thakurgaon district police, said that none of their teams went there.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Ruhia police station in this regard. Gulfamul Islam Mandal said, ‘At 10:30 pm, the phone call came from Ramesh Chandra Sen’s house. After going there, I found that a police team had come from Dhaka and they had taken Rameshchandra Sen into their custody.’

Attempts were made to contact Thakurgaon District Superintendent of Police (SP) Uttam Prasad Pathak to find out more about this but could not be contacted.
