Two weeks after the lynching of 15 policemen at Enayetpur police station in Sirajganj, no case has yet been registered. After six consecutive days of the police station’s operations were officially announced on August 10, but everything is still closed. The police say that the police have started the operation in the damaged building of the police station, but due to the problem of keeping it running, another house has been rented next to it. A case of murder will be filed if the proceedings start there in a day or two.

On August 4, 13 policemen, including Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdur Razzak, were beaten to death by vandalism and arson at Enayetpur police station during a one-phase movement to overthrow the government. Two others died while undergoing treatment at the hospital with serious injuries. After that, the police station stopped working.

At the police station on Saturday afternoon, it was seen that the main gate has been closed with tin and bamboo. Went to Enayetpur market and talked with local residents. Some businessmen said that Khukni, Rupnai Gachpara of Shahjadpur upazila, Rupsi, Jalalpur, Asannagar of Chauhali upazila, Sadia Chandpur, Maij village, Betil, Khamar village, Charkadah of Belkuchi, Attardag, Dhukuria Bara, Daulatpur, Kshidra Goprekhi, Pakar Tala and Goprekhi were attacked. People came from Atar Mor area.

The dilapidated Enayetpur police station was made operational from August 10 by appointing Inspector Hasibullah Hasib as the new officer-in-charge (OC). 10 members of the District Intelligence Police (DB) have been temporarily attached to assist him. However, the operation of the police station is still closed due to the problem of managing the activities in the destroyed building.

OC Hasibullah Hasib said, “On August 10, we left Sirajganj and are trying to keep the police station functioning.” However, it has become difficult to conduct activities in the destroyed police station office. That is why it is proposed to rent a new building.

Police Superintendent of Sirajganj Arifur Rahman Media said that although the operation has started in the destroyed building, another house has been rented next to it due to the problem of keeping it running. From now on, police operations will continue there. It is hoped that the police station will be fully operational in the rented building within a day or two. After that, a murder case will be filed at that police station.
