Dhaka’s popular public transport Metrorail has reopened after being closed for 37 days. The first train left from Uttara North Station for Motijheel at 7:00 am on Sunday morning. And the first train leaves from Motijheel at 7:30 am.

Even if it is launched, the metro rail will not stop at Mirpur-10 and Kazipara stations for the time being. Passenger services will be closed at these two stations for the time being.

Muhammad Fawzul Kabir Khan, Advisor-in-Charge of the Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges inspected the first day of train movement.

In a press conference at Secretariat Station, the adviser said that the interim government has taken the initiative to declare Metrorail as an emergency service to prevent vandalism.

Muhammad Fawzul Kabir Khan said that the Metrorail will be declared an emergency service through KPI (Key Point Installation), a state-important facility. He said, ‘I am trying to upgrade it as a KPI so that it is not vandalized, so that its security increases. And we have taken the initiative to declare it as an essential service, so that no one can disrupt the service in this way. Whether to identify those who tried to vandalize or damage, and take any steps to take action, the advisor said, ‘Here that The problem has become, since it was associated with mass agitation, now all the cases have been initially withdrawn.’

Muhammad Fawzul Kabir Khan also said, “You all know that it is not possible for those who have agitated for the change of the country to do such work.” It is the work of criminals. You have their video, footage, we will take appropriate action for it. During the movement around the quota reform, on July 18, the police box was set on fire at Mirpur-10 Roundabout. The authorities stopped the movement of metro rail at 5 pm that day. The next day, Mirpur-10 and Kazipara stations of Metrorail were vandalized. Metrorail was planned to start from August 17. But then the reason why the metro rail was not started was because of the strike of the lower level workers. Metro Rail employees resumed work from August 20 after being assured of meeting their demands.

After the launch yesterday morning, Road Transport and Bridges Ministry Advisor Muhammad Fawzul Kabir Khan came to the Secretariat station by metro rail from Agargaon. There he presented various future plans in front of the journalists.

The advisor said, everyone knows that this is a government of people’s expectations. After he was appointed as an adviser, the chief adviser said his first task would be to launch the Metrorail. That’s what they did. Here the board has to be reorganized. There were board meetings, there were some demands, they saw them.

Earlier, Muhammad Fawzul Kabir Khan said that an initiative was taken to start the Metrorail on August 17, “It was not possible to start it for some Metrorail officials and employees.” You know, it has done a great injustice. Trying to collect a demand by holding three lakh passengers hostage is not a good sign.

The adviser commented that the season of demands is going on in the country. He said, ‘Now a season of demands is going on across the country. Everyone wants a claim. Everyone wants discrimination to be removed, everyone wants to be freed from deprivation. 16 years of deprivation… So the government has been 16 days, Anant gave 16 months. We will slowly consider all of them. Muhammad Fawzul Kabir Khan expressed fear that the country may fall into inflation if all the demands are met. He said, ‘But one thing to remember is that there is a financial connection with these claims. If your government does not increase revenue or other income, then where will it come from? Now if we can pay by printing money, then there will be inflation. Then common people will suffer a lot. So it was an unintended incident and we want it not to happen in future.”
