187 members of the Bangladesh Police Force are absent at work, the police headquarters said. This absence has raised deep concerns, as it could have a far-reaching impact on the country’s law and order situation. These policemen have been absent from work from August 1 to Tuesday (September 17) following the anti-discrimination student movement. This information was confirmed in a message sent from the police headquarters.
The anti-discrimination movement in Bangladesh has spread on a large scale in recent months. This movement of students was mainly against equality, justice, and administrative discrimination, which had a huge impact on the political and administrative arena of the country. The movement exacerbated the underlying discontent and divisions within the police administration. In the immediate aftermath of the agitation, many complained that some members of the police disagreed with the government’s policies or that their skills and moral foundations were challenged in handling the agitation situation.

According to information released by the police headquarters on Tuesday evening, 187 policemen are still absent from duty. Among them are officers of various ranks

This figure clearly shows that members of various ranks, from the lower to the higher levels of the police, are largely absent from the workplace. This absence can have a major impact on the performance of the force as a whole, especially at critical levels of administration where absence of officers can disrupt administrative decision-making and law enforcement processes.

Many policemen have taken extra time off for vacation, which may be part of a normal administrative process. However, it was seen as a serious issue as 49 members were absent from work. They are absent without any authorization, which is a clear example of breach of discipline. In addition, 3 policemen have voluntarily quit their jobs and are absent from duty, indicating ongoing frustration and discontent within the force. 39 members are absent for various other reasons, including personal or health reasons.

The police administration has already taken steps in this regard. Absent policemen may be charged with indiscipline and administrative action will be taken against them. Strict action may be taken against those who are particularly absent from work place without permission. The administration is taking this situation very seriously to maintain order within the police and prevent irregularities in the functioning of the force.

Police force of Bangladesh plays an important role in maintaining law and order and protecting the citizens of the country. Such absence of force members can adversely affect the law and order situation of the country as a whole. Especially, in the context of ongoing tension and agitation in the political arena of the country, the effectiveness and strength of the police has become crucial. Rapid replacement of absentee members and ensuring operational efficiency of the force has become a major challenge for the administration.

To improve this situation, it is necessary to take measures to eliminate discontent within the forces, maintain discipline and restore morale. In addition, there is a need for long-term policy measures to strengthen police performance in response to the recent political and social unrest.
