Friday afternoon, In a call for peace across the three hill districts, Interim Chief Advisor Dr. Yunus has expressed the government’s commitment to resolving the issues in Khagrachari and Rangamati. He emphasized that the government is working diligently to address the unrest in these areas, ensuring that all incidents linked to violence will be thoroughly investigated, and those responsible will face justice.

This message was conveyed in a statement issued by the Chief Advisor’s press wing on Friday afternoon.

According to the statement, the government is deeply saddened by the recent events surrounding the mob beating and subsequent death of an individual on September 18, which have led to ongoing attacks, clashes, and loss of life. In response, all law enforcement agencies have been instructed to exercise maximum restraint and ensure the safety of residents across the three hill districts. The government remains fully committed to restoring peace, harmony, and mutual respect in the region.

The Chief Advisor urged the public not to take the law into their own hands or engage in destructive acts. The statement further stressed that taking the law into one’s own hands and causing damage to any property are serious and punishable offenses. A thorough investigation will be conducted into all incidents of violence, and those found responsible will be held accountable. A robust investigation committee will be formed soon to oversee these efforts, the statement added. Instructions have also been issued to ensure proper medical care for all injured individuals.

Additionally, a high-level government delegation, led by the Home Affairs Advisor, is scheduled to visit Khagrachari and Rangamati on Saturday, September 21. The delegation will include the Advisors for Home Affairs, Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs, Local Government, and a Special Assistant to the Chief Advisor responsible for Defense and National Unity Development.
