Garment Workers Protest with Demands, Clash with Joint Forces in Mirpur – 2 Injured

This morning, garment factory workers in Mirpur-14, Dhaka, took to the streets in protest. A clash broke out between the protesters and joint security forces, leading to two workers, 18-year-old Al Amin and 15-year-old Jhuma Akter, sustaining gunshot injuries.

 

According to eyewitnesses, the workers were demonstrating on the Kachukhet road in Mirpur-14, raising various demands. They attempted to block the road, prompting police and military personnel to intervene and try to calm the situation. The protesters began throwing bricks and stones at law enforcement officers, who then responded with baton charges for self-defense. The workers also damaged and set fire to police and military vehicles amidst the escalating chaos.
