In view of the fall in fuel prices, the bus fare rescheduling committee has recommended a reduction of 3 paise per kilometer.
This decision was taken at the committee meeting at the office of Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) on Monday. The Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges will approve this proposal to reduce fares.
At present, the bus fare set by the government for long-distance routes in the country is 2 taka 15 paisa per kilometer. It is proposed to reduce this fare to 2 taka 12 paisa per kilometer.
Current bus fare in Dhaka and Chittagong cities is 2 taka 45 paisa per kilometer. It is proposed to reduce it to 2 taka 42 paisa per kilometer.
Similarly, in Dhaka and Chittagong cities, currently fixed fare of minibuses is 2 taka 35 paisa per kilometer. Basvara rescheduling committee has recommended to reduce this rate to 2 taka 32 paisa per kilometer.
