5G finally launched in Bangladesh: How to enable it on your phone
After the rollout of 4G, South Korea became the first country in the world to introduce commercial 5G in 2019. Following multiple trial runs, Bangladesh has now launched 5G technology as well. But many users are still unsure how to turn it on and what benefits it actually brings.
Today, internet is almost essential for daily life—whether on smartphones, laptops, or desktops. From communication and browsing to video streaming, everything depends on speed. Slow connections and buffering are nothing new for users.
With 5G, internet speeds will be much faster—10 to 20 times higher than 4G in some cases. Though speeds vary by country, the technology drastically reduces data transfer time, making usage smoother and more efficient.
In regions without broadband, 5G can also deliver high-speed internet. Globally, beyond personal use, the technology is already applied in ports, businesses, healthcare, education, traffic management, and industry.
How to activate 5G on your phone
You’ll need a 5G-supported smartphone. Most modern models are compatible.
No SIM replacement or extra cost is required—existing 4G data packs will work.
If your phone is within a 5G coverage area of operators like Grameenphone or Robi, you can access the service.
Go to Settings → Mobile Network (or SIM & Mobile Network).
Select Network Mode / Network Type → 5G (Auto).
Once enabled, your phone will attempt to detect the signal, and the 5G icon will appear when available.
