Home Affairs Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd.) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has commented that he did not say anything about keeping the government in power for five more years. He clarified that it was the people who expressed the desire to see this government in power for another five years, particularly the common people of Sunamganj, who voiced this opinion. He mentioned that he did not make any such statement himself, but the people did. He also added that the Chief Adviser has already stated that elections will be held between December and June, so there is nothing more for him to comment on.

He made these comments on Tuesday (April 15) after a meeting of the Core Committee on Law and Order at the Secretariat.

Regarding the removal of the DB chief, the Home Affairs Adviser stated that transfers in the police service are a normal process. He clarified that the DB chief was not removed over the arrest of model Meghna Alam, and emphasized that big figures would not be spared, but they must first be caught in the net.

Concerning changes to the police logo, he mentioned that changes to the police uniforms and logo will be gradually implemented.

The adviser also highlighted that, for the first time, the nation, regardless of religion or ethnicity, celebrated Chaitra Sankranti and Pohela Boishakh together. He praised the cooperation from all sectors, which enabled the security forces to perform well. He expressed his gratitude to the law enforcement agencies, media personnel, and the general public for their support.

Earlier, on April 10, after visiting the Shantiganj police station in Sunamganj, the Home Affairs Adviser noted that the law and order situation in the country had improved and efforts to maintain law and order would continue to increase. He shared that people on the streets were expressing their wish for the government to stay in power for another five years, which sparked widespread discussions on social media.
