Fishery and livestock are essential for the survival of the people, said Fisheries and Livestock Affairs Adviser Farida Akhter during a speech at the annual PUNAK gathering and fair held in Rajarbagh on Friday (May 2) as part of Police Week celebrations. She emphasized the critical role these sectors play in ensuring nutrition and livelihoods. Farida called on members of the Police Women Welfare Association (PUNAK) to engage with products from the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock, highlighting women’s substantial but often unrecognized contribution to the sector. Expressing hope that PUNAK's initiatives would help shift public perceptions of the police, she added that during past protests, seeing female officers present would bring reassurance that demonstrators wouldn't be mistreated.
