Leaders and activists of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) have been gathering outside Evercare Hospital in Dhaka, where party chairperson Khaleda Zia is currently receiving treatment. On Friday night, a group of BNP members were seen taking a group photo in front of the hospital.

Khaleda Zia, the former prime minister, is admitted to the hospital’s Coronary Care Unit with infections affecting both her lungs and heart. Her condition has been described as critical. BNP members and supporters have been arriving at the hospital throughout the evening to seek updates on her health.

Around 11:15 p.m., BNP Standing Committee member Abdul Moyeen Khan was seen entering the hospital. Vehicles carrying other senior BNP leaders also arrived. Supporters from BNP and its affiliated organizations waited outside, hoping for news about their leader’s condition. Several journalists were present as well.

A medical board made up of local and international specialists is overseeing Khaleda Zia’s treatment. Earlier in the day, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir stated that her health had reached an extremely serious stage. The country’s Chief Adviser, Professor Muhammad Yunus, also expressed concern and asked the public to pray for her recovery.

Khaleda Zia, who is nearly 80, has long suffered from multiple chronic health issues—including heart disease, diabetes, arthritis, liver cirrhosis, and kidney complications. She was rushed to Evercare Hospital last Sunday after experiencing difficulty breathing, and doctors later confirmed infections in her lungs and heart.

She had traveled to London on January 7 for advanced medical care and returned to Bangladesh on May 6 after about four months. Since then, she has required hospitalization several times due to recurring health problems.
