BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir stated today that party chief Khaleda Zia is currently too unwell to be moved overseas for treatment. He said doctors would revisit the possibility only if her health shows clear improvement.
Speaking at a press briefing at the BNP chairperson’s Gulshan office, Fakhrul noted that medical specialists have recommended treatment abroad, but her present condition makes long-distance travel unsafe.
He also mentioned that the steps required for sending her abroad — such as visa arrangements and communication with potential destination countries — are already underway. However, any final decision depends on her stabilising enough to withstand travel.
