BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s personal physician and party standing committee member, AZM Zahid Hossain, has said that a decision on taking her abroad for advanced treatment will be made only after the medical board overseeing her care gives its recommendation. He noted that both local and overseas specialists are jointly involved in providing all possible medical support.
Speaking to reporters around 9 PM on Saturday in front of Evercare Hospital in Dhaka, Dr. Zahid briefed them on her latest health condition.
Earlier in the afternoon, at a press briefing at Khaleda Zia’s Gulshan office, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir stated that all preparations for sending her abroad are already in place. However, her current physical condition is too fragile for international travel.
Mirza Fakhrul added that Khaleda Zia is not presently in a state that would allow her to endure such a journey. Once her health stabilizes, the option of taking her abroad for treatment will be reconsidered.
