Three retired military officers have been appointed to the security team of Tarique Rahman, the acting chairman of the BNP.
The party announced the appointments in a press release on Tuesday night, which was posted at 10:38 PM on BNP’s verified Facebook page.
The release, signed by senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, stated that three directors have been appointed to the chairman’s security team, overseeing Security, Protocol, and Coordination.
According to the announcement, Major (Retd.) Mohammad Shafawat Ullah has been appointed Director (Security), Major (Retd.) Moinul Hossain as Director (Protocol), and Captain (Retd.) Md. Ganiul Azam as Director (Coordination).
Tarique Rahman returned to Bangladesh from the United Kingdom on December 25, after 17 years. In preparation for his return, the BNP restructured the Chairman Security Force (CSF) and expanded its membership. Brigadier General (Retd.) A.K.M. Shamsul Islam was appointed to lead the reorganized CSF, which immediately began providing security for Tarique Rahman in Dhaka.
