“Arshadul, Resigned Leader of NCP, Joins BNP”

Former NCP Leader Arshadul Hq Joins BNP

Mir Arshadul Haque, a former leader of the National Citizens’ Party (NCP), has officially joined the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP).

On Wednesday afternoon around 2:00 PM, Arshadul Haque met with BNP’s acting chairman, Tarique Rahman, at the party’s political office in Gulshan, Dhaka. Following the meeting, he formally became a member of the BNP, according to Shairul Kabir Khan of BNP’s media cell.

Speaking to the press, Arshadul Haque said he met Tarique Rahman for over 10 minutes before formally joining the party. He expressed that he was impressed by Tarique Rahman’s clear vision and plans for national development and wanted to contribute to implementing them. During the meeting, Tarique Rahman welcomed him, saying, “Let’s rebuild the country.”

After the meeting, Arshadul Haque completed the BNP membership form and submitted it to party secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir. He added that he would carry out any responsibilities assigned to him and that he had been asked to work with the youth wing of the party.

Arshadul Haque previously served as the central joint secretary of the NCP, a member of its executive council, and a member of both the party’s media and discipline committees. He also headed the NCP’s environmental cell and coordinated the party’s activities in Chattogram city.

He had been nominated by the NCP to contest the upcoming parliamentary election from Chattogram-16 but resigned from the party on December 25, expressing his support for Tarique Rahman.

A former vice president of the Dhaka University Journalists’ Association (DUJA), Arshadul Haque was actively involved in campus journalism and various student movements during his university years.
