The decision declaring the candidacy of BNP-nominated contender M A Kaiyum valid for the Dhaka-11 constituency in the 13th National Parliamentary Election remains in force. A writ petition filed by Nahid Islam, convener of the National Citizen Party (NCP) and a rival candidate in the same seat, challenging the legality of that decision has been summarily dismissed by the High Court.

The order was issued on Tuesday by a High Court bench comprising Justice Fahmida Kader and Justice Md Asif Hasan.
