BNP Leads with 49.97% Vote Share; Jamaat at 31.76%, NCP at 3.05%

In the 13th National Parliamentary Election, the BNP secured 49.97% of the vote under its “Sheaf of Paddy” symbol, fielding candidates in 290 constituencies. Meanwhile, Jamaat-e-Islami obtained 31.76% of the votes with its “Scales” symbol, contesting in 227 seats.

The Election Commission announced the vote percentages for political parties on Sunday afternoon. The National Citizen Party (NCP), led by student and youth figures associated with the July mass uprising, ranked third in terms of vote share. The party contested 32 seats and received 3.05% of the total votes. NCP took part in the election as part of an 11-party alliance led by Jamaat.

The Jatiya Party (JaPa), which had served as the opposition in the last three parliaments, fielded candidates in 199 constituencies and secured 0.89% of the vote with its “Plough” symbol.

A total of 50 political parties participated in this election. Islami Andolon Bangladesh, led by Charmonai Pir Syed Muhammad Rezaul Karim, nominated candidates in 257 seats and received 2.70% of the vote under the “Hand Fan” symbol.

Bangladesh Khelafat Majlish, another member of the 11-party alliance, contested 34 seats with the “Rickshaw” symbol and gained 2.09% of the vote.

All other participating parties each received less than 1% of the total vote. These include Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Bangladesh, Khelafat Majlish, Islami Oikya Jote, the Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB), Ganosamhati Andolon, BASAD, BASAD (Marxist), Gonoforum, and Nagorik Oikya.
