BNP Standing Committee Member Salahuddin Ahmed stated on Sunday that an appropriate environment for the return of BNP’s acting chairman, Tarique Rahman, has not yet been created but assured that it would take only a little more time. Speaking to journalists at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport upon his return from a two-week visit to London, he emphasized that Tarique Rahman would definitely return to Bangladesh when the time is right.
When asked about his discussions with Tarique Rahman, Salahuddin mentioned that details would be revealed gradually but highlighted that the acting chairman stressed the importance of unity. He also called for a democratic process to implement the anti-fascist alliance currently forming in Bangladesh, urging for a swift path toward elections based on national unity. Salahuddin underlined the need for a well-thought-out roadmap through discussions with all stakeholders, welcoming the emergence of new political forces, provided they do not resemble “king’s parties.”
