To mark International Workers' Day, the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) will hold a workers’ rally in front of its central office in Nayapaltan, organized by its labor wing, the Jatiyatabadi Sramik Dal. BNP’s acting chairman Tarique Rahman is set to join the rally virtually as the chief guest.
This announcement came during a press conference held on Tuesday (April 22) at party chairperson Khaleda Zia’s political office in Gulshan, Dhaka. BNP Standing Committee member Nazrul Islam Khan shared the details, stating that the rally will be held at 2 PM on May 1. Alongside Dhaka, party activists from surrounding districts will also participate. As the date is a public holiday, organizers hope the large turnout won’t cause public inconvenience. Similar rallies are planned across all major cities and districts of the country.
Responding to a question from reporters, Nazrul Islam Khan said the BNP supports the recommendations submitted by the Labor Reform Commission.
Other BNP leaders present at the briefing included Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, Chairperson’s Special Assistant Shamsur Rahman Shimul Biswas, Joint Secretary General Khairul Kabir Khokon, and Sramik Dal President Anwar Hossain.
