Ishraque Hossain, a member of the BNP Chairperson’s Advisory Committee on International Affairs, stated on Friday (May 23) that he would assist the administration and cleaning staff in Dhaka North until a new mayor takes office. In a post from his verified Facebook page, he assured residents that he would act as the "people’s mayor" and personally join the cleaning efforts during Eid-ul-Adha to ensure proper waste management preparations are in place ahead of the festival. He emphasized that taking an official oath is merely a formality and expressed his commitment to supporting city workers. Ishraque also mentioned plans to coordinate with former councillors and past election candidates in Dhaka South to authorize a zonal monitoring team by evening, aiming to create a cleaner and more comfortable environment within just 16 hours.
