BNP Standing Committee Member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury stated that the party is awaiting the government's decision regarding engineer Ishraque Hossain’s swearing-in as the Mayor of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC). Speaking on Thursday (June 26) afternoon after a liaison committee meeting with Gono Odhikar Parishad at the BNP Chairperson’s office in Gulshan, Khasru emphasized that if the rule of law were upheld, Ishraque should have already taken the oath of office.
He further mentioned that discussions are ongoing with allies involved in the simultaneous movement leading up to the upcoming general election expected in February. According to Khasru, these allies will continue to move forward collectively in the days ahead.
He also noted that BNP will formally begin preparations once the election schedule is announced. Any reforms will be based on consensus, while unresolved matters could later be addressed through parliamentary discussion.
