BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir stated that the party cannot be dismissed with a mere wave of the hand. He made the remarks on Sunday (July 13) during the launch of a book titled “Tarique Rahman: The Hope of Bangladesh” held at Lakeshore Hotel in Gulshan, Dhaka.
Fakhrul emphasized that the BNP has repeatedly demonstrated its resilience, rising from the ashes time and again. He recalled how many believed the party was finished after the assassination of President Ziaur Rahman. Yet, under the leadership of Khaleda Zia, the BNP revived itself through the dedication of student and youth leaders.
He further said that the current smear campaigns against the party are part of a calculated conspiracy aimed at eliminating nationalist forces in Bangladesh and erasing the leadership of Tarique Rahman. “This is something we must not forget,” he warned.
