The Chief Advisor of the interim government, Professor Muhammad Yunus, inquired about the health of Nurul Haque, president of Ganadhikar Parishad.
On Saturday at 1:00 PM, the Chief Advisor spoke with Nurul Haque over the phone. During the conversation, Nurul Haque provided a detailed account of the incident that occurred the previous day.
In a statement sent to the media on Saturday, Abu Hanif, a senior member of Ganadhikar Parishad, confirmed that the Chief Advisor had called Nurul Haque.
On Friday night, the interim government’s legal advisor, Professor Asif Nazrul, along with press secretary Shafiqul Alam, visited Nurul Haque at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
The incident occurred on Friday evening in Kakrail, Dhaka, when a clash broke out between leaders and activists of the National Party (Jatiya Party) and Ganadhikar Parishad. The confrontation happened as a Ganadhikar Parishad procession passed by the Jatiya Party office. Several people, including Ganadhikar Parishad president Nurul Haque, were injured in the ensuing clash with law enforcement. Six individuals, including Nurul Haque with serious injuries, were admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
Ganadhikar Parishad stated that Jatiya Party members attacked them during the procession, while Jatiya Party claimed that Ganadhikar Parishad activists were the aggressors.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), law enforcement was compelled to use force to maintain public safety, resulting in injuries to five army personnel.
A high-level medical board has been formed at Dhaka Medical College Hospital to treat Nurul Haque. On Saturday morning, Brigadier General Md. Asaduzzaman, director of the hospital, confirmed that Nurul Haque sustained a head injury and a fractured nose, which caused significant bleeding yesterday. The bleeding has since stopped, and he has regained consciousness. However, it cannot yet be confirmed whether Nurul Haque is out of danger within the next 48 hours.
