Soybean oil, palm oil and lentil worth Tk 362 crore 93 lakh are being purchased for the government selling agency Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB). Out of this, soybean oil worth 75 crore 72 lakh 50 thousand taka, palm oil worth 185 crore 90 lakh taka and lentils worth 101 crore 30 lakh taka.

Meanwhile, the procurement committee has approved the proposal to hire a contractor at a cost of Tk 128 crore for the renovation of the 4.8 km long Bangabandhu Bridge. Second Harbor Engineering Company Limited and China Road and Bridge Corporation jointly got the work.

The secretary said that the lifespan of the bridge which was opened in 1998 has already passed 25 years; Now needs to be reformed. For this some equipment has to be replaced.

Under the National Highway Project of the Department of Road Transport and Highways, the proposal to appoint a consultant for the implementation of the project to upgrade the Comilla (Mainamati)-Brahmanbaria (Dharkhar) National Highway to 4 lanes at a cost of Tk 41 crore has been approved.

Meanwhile, under the ‘Bangladesh Electronic Passport (e-Passport) and Automatic Border Control Management Introduction Project’, the cost of the e-passport project has increased by Tk 453.8 million in the third phase. A total of 170 crore rupees has been raised in this project in three phases. After the third round of increase, the total contract value stands at 3 thousand 512 crore 37 lakh taka.

Apart from this, the proposal to buy 40 thousand tons of DAP fertilizer from Morocco has been approved by the purchase committee. Secretary Md. Mahmudul Hossain Khan said that the price of fertilizer has decreased in the international market. The price will be 477.50 USD per ton, which was 547.50 USD earlier.
