Chief Advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus has urged people not to attack the properties of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, her associates, or any other individuals, emphasizing the need to maintain law and order. He stated that it is essential to ensure no further attacks on properties linked to Hasina’s family or the fascist Awami League leaders. While acknowledging the anger of those who carried out such actions—many of whom endured years of oppression under Hasina’s rule—he stressed the importance of upholding legal principles.

In a statement issued by the interim government’s press wing on Friday, as reported by BSS, Dr. Yunus noted that these incidents are an outburst of long-suppressed frustration. The government understands these emotions, especially as Hasina continues to obstruct Bangladesh’s reform efforts from India, further fueling public resentment. Despite taking refuge in New Delhi, she has allegedly been rallying her extremist supporters in an attempt to prevent Bangladesh from recovering from her regime’s oppression.

However, the government remains committed to the rule of law and urges citizens to do the same. According to the statement, respect for law and order is a defining feature of the new Bangladesh, where the interim administration, alongside the people, is working to break free from the old system of fascist governance. The government warns against actions that could threaten national security and stability, as any disregard for the law could endanger lives and property.

Dr. Yunus stressed that those who led the July uprising to overthrow Hasina’s government must demonstrate to both the nation and the world that they respect human rights and remain steadfast in their commitment to law and order. The statement further asserted that citizens of a just and reformed Bangladesh must not engage in actions that would allow comparisons with the ousted dictatorship.

The law enforcement agencies remain vigilant, and the government has made it clear that anyone inciting unrest or engaging in property destruction will face strict legal action. The chief advisor reaffirmed that those responsible will be held accountable, as Hasina’s loyalists have already inflicted immense damage on the country. As long as the people stay alert and uphold their moral standards, there will be no opportunity for the return of such figures.

Additionally, the statement warned that attacks on properties associated with fascist elements provide them with an excuse to attract international attention and spread false narratives. The government is pursuing justice for crimes against humanity, with global support, and any deterioration of law and order could send the wrong message to the international community.

In an earlier statement, the interim government vowed to firmly counter any attempts to vandalize or set fire to public institutions and infrastructure.
