On Sunday, the first trading day of the week, the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), the country’s primary stock market, saw a decline in the majority of share prices, leading to a drop in indices. Additionally, trading volume decreased by approximately BDT 66 crore compared to the previous session. The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also experienced a fall in both indices and trading activity.
Throughout the day, DSE saw fluctuations, but by the end of trading, the DSEX index had dropped by 10.45 points (0.19%) to settle at 5,236.84 points. The DSES (Shariah Index) declined by 0.44 points (0.03%) to 1,166 points, while the DS30 index, which represents blue-chip stocks, fell by 1.86 points (0.09%) to close at 1,903.67 points.
Total turnover at DSE stood at BDT 421.95 crore, down from BDT 487.85 crore in the previous session, marking a decrease of BDT 65.90 crore. A total of 15.59 crore shares changed hands through 141,856 transactions. Among 395 traded stocks and mutual funds, prices rose for 144, declined for 184, and remained unchanged for 67.
Orion Infusions Limited led the trading with shares worth BDT 20.70 crore exchanged, followed by Intraco Refueling Station Limited with BDT 10.10 crore and Rangpur Dairy & Food Products Limited with BDT 10.03 crore. Other top-traded companies included Shinepukur Ceramics Limited (BDT 7.70 crore), Paper Processing & Packaging Limited (BDT 9.96 crore), Agni Systems Limited (BDT 9.09 crore), and Tafika Foods & Lovello Ice Cream PLC (BDT 7.65 crore).
The top gainers list was led by HR Textile Limited, which saw a 9.89% increase in share price, followed by Bangladesh Autocars Limited (8.95%), Stylecraft Limited (7.76%), and Intraco Refueling Station Limited (7.04%). Other notable gainers included Anwar Galvanizing Limited (6.67%) and ACI Limited (6.53%).
Meanwhile, at the CSE, the CSCX index dropped by 17.20 points (0.19%) to 8,851.09 points, while the CASPI index fell by 25.56 points (0.17%) to 14,607.44 points. A total of 204 stocks were traded, with 76 gaining, 98 declining, and 30 remaining unchanged. Trading volume at CSE reached BDT 5.16 crore, a significant drop from BDT 103.92 crore in the previous session.
ACI Limited topped CSE trading with shares worth BDT 1.66 crore exchanged, followed by Robi Axiata Limited (BDT 54 lakh), Tafika Foods & Lovello Ice Cream PLC (BDT 49 lakh), and Malek Spinning Mills Limited (BDT 22 lakh). Other notable traders included British American Tobacco Bangladesh (BDT 16 lakh) and IFIC Bank PLC (BDT 11 lakh).
